Nashville Wedding Recap – Sarah & Ryan

I had first learned of the lovely Sarah through her blog, Planning Sarah Elizabeth, and was honored when she asked if I would help plan and coordinate her wedding! Sarah and I certainly have a lot in common with our type-A personalities, love of list making, and obsession with wedding details and we had a great time planing her August 14th, 2010 wedding with a color scheme of royal blue, ivory, teal, and gold. Sarah and Ryan were all around a FUN couple to work with. And after meeting their family and friends, there was no doubt where they get their personalities and humor from, everyone was a BLAST to work with and kept me laughing throughout the wedding day! Once again I had an awesome team of vendors to collaborate with and a big thank you to Gray Photography for the photographs below!

The hot August day began at the Hutton Hotel where the bride and bridesmaids got ready, and then everyone headed to the Cathedral of the Incarnation for the Catholic wedding ceremony. I’ve always loved the grandeur of that church and it suited Sarah and Ryan’s style perfectly. The bride carried a bouquet of ivory hydrangea, ivory garden roses, ivory lisianthus, ivory freesia, and wired ivory dendrobium orchids. I loved the blue and teal criss-cross wrap that added just a hint of color. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of similar flowers but in a slightly smaller version with alternating colors on the stem-wrap. The boutonnieres for the guys were all made with ivory dendrobium orchids. Hillary Robson with Brocade Designs created all of the floral elements which were amazing as usual!

Ok I had to point out how awesome the ushers were. They even had a designated “head” usher and they took their jobs very seriously. They were however quite disappointed that my team and I had walkie-talkies and they did not.

Since the ceremony was in the early afternoon, there was a 2 hour gap until the reception so the wedding party headed out to take some wedding party photos around West End and Downtown Nashville. The heat was pretty brutal but everyone was in good spirits and braved the hot afternoon sun.

The reception was held at the beautiful War Memorial Auditorium and once again Brocade Designs did an amazing job with all of the floral designs. Guests were greeted with a wishing tree where instead of signing a traditional guest book, they could write well wishes to the bride and groom and hang them on the tree. Once inside the auditorium, the guest tables were decorated with navy blue pintuck linens, teal satin napkins, gold chargers, gold votive candles, and a mix of high and low centerpieces comprised of the same ivory flowers used in the bouquets along with pops of green hypericum berries.

Cosmo Creations DJ kept the crowd on their feet all night long and the night concluded with Sarah & Ryan making their grand exit down the War Memorial Plaza steps as the guests waved sparklers. All in all it was a fantastic wedding and I hope Sarah & Ryan are enjoying life as newlyweds! To see more from this wedding, check out the teaser video from Focal Point Cinematic below!
