This week I’m posting an oldie but goody from the blog archives and when I first wrote this post 2 years ago I received a lot of positive comments and response from the vendor community. However this message isn’t one that many couples planning their wedding always want to hear as no one enjoys making wedding budgets (except maybe me) and learning that the wedding of your dreams may cost a lot more than you realize . But I do believe in the importance of educating engaged couples and while tough to hear at times, when it comes to wedding vendors (just like everything else in life) quality costs more!

Wedding Costs – You Get What You Pay For
And to add to my original thoughts on the matter, there are many reasons why the best wedding vendors cost as much as they do. Usually the first and foremost is experience, followed closely by education and training. The vendors that charge well below the going rate for their field most likely have very little of the above. Also, higher priced vendors have higher overhead costs because they typically use the best gear, have well-trained assistants and employees, maintain legit businesses, pay for liability insurance, and a big one: actually pay their taxes! So before you dismiss vendors above a certain price point because you can’t fathom why they would charge so much, understand that there are very real reasons why they do and they will be much better equipped to provide you with the service that you are hoping for.
