Our Nashville Wedding Recap – The Reception Decor

I seriously can not believe it’s been almost one year since Brian and I were married, and as our one-year anniversary fast approaches, I figured it was about time I finished up the recaps from the wedding. So today we’ve got the reception decor! All the amazingly beautiful photos are courtesy of Mclellan Style.

When Brian and I first discussed the look of this whole shindig, we started with the colors. While I love me some green and purple (as you can probably tell by my business branding) Brian was definitely not about the purple. So we decided on apple green, chocolate brown, and shades of orange. The colors had a fall feel to them, but still bright and in keeping with the end of summer wedding date. From there, he pretty much let me do my thing. So I enlisted the help of Hillary with Brocade Designs and together we took my initial thoughts and ideas of what I was envisioning and created a look that would match the grandness of the Country Music Hall of Fame‘s Conservatory, but also include many small details and thoughtful touches. I never had a set “theme” in mind, I just went with what I liked which is sort of an enchanted forest feel (hence the moss, curly willow, orchids, and hanging amaranthus) but with sort of a regal feel to it (hence the gold chargers and broaches on the cake).

Hillary did the most AMAZING job with the flowers and decor. She was able to take my vision and turn it into reality plus still manage to surprise me with many unexpected touches (the vases and moss running along the fountain wall was a complete surprise! She even made little squares of moss, each with a “K” made out of button mums to go between each vase. Unbelievable!). We had decided on three different centerpieces, first a trio of cylinder vases filled with colored water and topped with a floating candle, second a simple low arrangement, and third…the TREES. I told Hillary I wanted a 6 ft. tall tree bursting with flowers for a centerpiece and she made it happen, and man they were COOL. Apparently we started a tree trend too, many brides have asked for variations on the trees over the last year. All of the centerpieces sat on a bed of moss with various small florals tucked into it, to give a sense of continuity throughout the room.

For the table decor, I chose a champagne satin linen as I wanted something that wouldn’t compete with the color and complexity of the centerpieces and that would contrast with the deep wood floor. The fruitwood folding chairs also coordinated with the linen and floor very well. I also chose gold chargers and an apple green damask napkin to complete the look. All linens were rented from Connie Duglin Linen.

I was seriously IN LOVE with our cake! Jay with Maples Wedding Cakes created this four tired square cake, with an apple green fondant ribbon wrapped around each tier and finished with the gorgeous broaches. He even created a custom square wooden cake stand to coordinate with the wood floor. The cake table was completed with orange and red rose petals, and our square toasting flutes that were engraved with the letter “K”. (As you can see both squares and the “K” also became recurring themes in the design).

The final details on the tables included chocolate favors from Schakolad in chocolate brown boxes with green ribbon (I’m all about edible favors, and who doesn’t like chocolate?), and music-note table number holders (obviously to tie-in with the venue). The room would not have been complete with all of the fabulous lighting provided by Blake and the crew at Nashville Event Lighting. The up-lighting around the perimeter of the room added both warmth and drama and the GIANT gobo of our monogram on the circular wall provided the true “wow” factor.

So there you have it! Our unbelievable reception room! A huge thank you to all of our vendors who brought my vision to life and did such an AMAZING job. Tune in to the next post as I wind down the wedding recaps with some highlights from the reception!
