Nashville Wedding Recap – Mariellen & Richard

This week we have a colorful and fun wedding to feature planned by Associate Alex Bovee! Read on for Alex’s recap:

Mariellen and Richard are such a sweet and loving couple. I know we say this a lot, but this couple is absolutely enamored with each other. I was so excited to work with them on their August 2011 wedding after I heard the story of the first time they met. It’s not an epic, crazy story… It was simply a girl who claims she wasn’t done up and looking her best (though I don’t believe that’s possible) meeting a guy, who pretty much fell in love with her at first site. Now I don’t know about you, but if a man is interested in me when I don’t have makeup on or my hair done, he is worthy of a date. It seemed to work out for this couple:)

Mariellen and Richard were married at the beautiful Cathedral of the Incarnation in downtown Nashville, followed by a reception at aVenue. The wedding party rode around downtown in a trolley taking pictures and enjoying the gorgeous day before the ceremony. Myrick Cowart of Myrick Studios did an amazing job with the photography and captured some pretty great moments.

How fun is this picture of the girls???

Mariellen carried a bouquet of white hydrangea, purple lisianthus and white and purple mini cala lilies. The boutonnieres were made of purple lisianthus, beargrass and a button pom. Both were beautifully done by Fresh by Carry Ann. The ceremony was officiated by two of Mariellen’s uncles who did a fantastic job of uniting Richard and Mariellen.

There was a bit of time between the ceremony and reception. During this time the wedding party continued around downtown, officially celebrating the joining of Mariellen and Richard. While taking more pictures they ran into a, shall we say, interesting addition to some entertaining photos.

The centerpieces, also done by Fresh by Carry Ann, were an assortment of high and low arrangements of hydrangea, tulips and orchids. The wedding cake, beautifully crafted by Dulce Desserts was the center of attention in the room and stunningly accented by the choice of lighting. The grooms cake, made by The French Confection, was definitely a favorite for the University of Tennessee fans.

The favors were some of my favorites yet! Mini Jack and Coke bottles were placed at each place setting (except the children of course) and for those not of age, there was a candy bar stocked with Hershey Kisses, Starbursts, Skittles, Rolos and more! As usual, the candy bar was a huge hit and not one person left behind their Jack and Coke’s.

The party continued through the night with everyone enjoying themselves and dancing the night away. The Blue Tones Band played a mixture of oldies and new songs to keep everyone on the dance floor and having fun.

Now we have seen a lot of different kinds of grand exits from both ceremony’s and receptions. I can honestly say I have never seen one cooler than this. I had goosebumps while they were leaving! The Blue Tones Band played a combination of “When The Saints Go Marching In” and “Rocky Top” while the guests shook their white and orange pom poms. Mariellen and Richard ran through, hopped on their horse and carriage and rode away into the night. It was truly an amazing exit, one that I will never forget.

Mariellen and Richard, I am so glad that I got the opportunity to work with you and we wish you nothing but the best in your life together as Mr. and Mrs. Hale!
