I seriously can’t believe Christmas is in three days, this whole year has FLEW by! And I must admit, I’m quite Christmas-obsessed. I’m totally one of those people that starts listening to Christmas music in September, puts up the tree before Thanksgiving, and gets the warm and fuzzies every time I think about Christmas. And to top it off I always wanted a Christmas wedding. That was the original plan long before I got engaged but once we truly started planning, there were some things we had ton consider. We preferred to have our wedding in Nashville, which meant that 90% of our guests would be traveling from afar to get here. Most people probably wouldn’t have wanted to do any extra traveling during the holiday season, not to mention the threat of bad weather. Brian also had a good point that while Christmas and winter weddings with snow all around are gorgeous, it doesn’t typically snow in Nashville, and winter here is usually cold, wet, and just overall “blah” gray weather. Not very beautiful. So we nixed the idea and started aiming for a late summer/early fall wedding instead, which I think worked out quite well.
Yet I still love the beauty of winter and holiday weddings and there are so many ways to include the beauty of the season without making it too “Christmas-y”. Here are a few inspiration boards and color palates that I LOVE.
I love the use of red and apple green here that gives you a holiday feel without the wedding looking like a company Christmas party. It’s still light and fun but hints of the holidays to come.
Another classic winter color combo, white, silver, and blue. If you’d prefer a winter wedding as opposed to a “Christmas” wedding, these colors are classic and beautiful and sure to never go out of style. My own Christmas tree is decorated in shades of silver blue, light purple, deep silver, and white.
I love the use of red in this board but combined with gold instead of white. No offense to anyone with a red and white wedding color palate but that just feels way more 4th of July then Christmas. Gold is so much more elegant and soft that stark white.
I love black and white weddings and I’m dying to plan one! I think it’s just so chic and classy and works so well in the winter/holiday season as opposed to the spring or summer. This would be a fantastic inspiration board for a New Years Eve wedding in fact.
This inspiration board is a much more modern take on the holiday wedding. I love the deep reds, purples, and burgandy combined with touches of green, black, and white, it’s very rich and elegant and fits the holiday season without also being too “Christmas-y”.
Do you have any ideas for a holiday, winter, or Christmas wedding? Love to hear them! In the meantime, enjoy all the blessings of the season and the last few days leading up to Christmas!
