I seriously can’t believe that this wonderful, most perfect day, was already a year ago. I honestly didn’t have any sort of post-wedding “blues” after it was all over…until oddly, this week. This is the first time that I’ve truly “missed” our wedding and want to feel again exactly how I did that day. But of course life goes on. Next week I’ll give my final thoughts on our wedding and the experience of it all, but first, a recap of the reception with photos from Mclellan Style!
While the cocktail hour was happening, we took the time to take photos throughout the museum and then had a few minutes to hang in the green room with some of the bridal party members. I’m so glad we took a few moments to really relax, put our feet up, have a drink and some appetizers and regroup before the real partying began. Before I knew it, it was time for the grand entrance and first dance!
My dad gave a very sweet welcome to everyone and told the story of Brian and I as seen from a father’s perspective. My dad truly is a great speaker and his welcome was warm, funny, and heartfelt.
Recognize this couple? Yup, they are our good friends Phil and Mindy of Phindy Studios!
And how about these people? It’s one of my favorite couples, Hillary with Brocade Designs and Don of Donald Yeager Photography!
One of our Best Men (we had two), Brian’s childhood best friend Wayne gave a great toast followed by a toast from my little sister, Ally.
Somewhere around this time my dress broke (see you never know what can go wrong at a wedding!). Most of the buttons that held my bustle had popped off, so a few of my girls took some time to pin the bustle back together. During the fix, we also noticed that a seam on the side of the dress was unraveling but thanks to some quick thinking and a borrowed broach from my awesome day-of coordinator, Corinne Reese, they were able to pin it back together, and hide the pins. Genius!
My two program attendants were my Loyola Marymount ladies. My college (and beyond) roommate Lexi, and my good friend Adriane. The funny thing is that while Adriane did go to LMU at the same time I did, our paths never crossed until we actually met years later in Nashville. Small world!
Instead of a traditional bouquet toss I decided to do a bouquet “pass” (this also prevented any embaresment for all my single friends and from having to hear “Single Ladies” for the billionth time). My cousin Colleen is one of my very best friends, we are only a few weeks apart in age and she’s been like a second sister to me. And since she was getting married a couple months later in Key West, FL, I “passed” the bouquet onto her!
Some of you might remember a certain song that was used in our awesome video teaser by 2duce2 Video. It was a song called “Angel” that our good friend Shawn Pander played for us at our reception. Shawn is an amazing musician and songwriter and many of our first dates were to go see him play in LA so it was really sweet of him to not only play the song during our reception, but to also sing the processional and recessional songs during our ceremony.
From there, the night was filled with lots of dancing, drinking, and partying. I must say there is truly nothing like having most of your closest family members and friends from all the various walks of your life, in one room together, dancing their hearts out.
